Flawless Execution and High Engagement Updated 1-1-11

Nothing added, just some old stuff deleted. Truth be known, I just HAD to do something to be able to use this cool once-in-this-millenium date. All Aces!

Flawless Executionmy web site – is a continuation of this blog. No fancy graphics, just another medium to share thoughts. If the topics blogged here are up your alley, this web site will be as well. I just re-tooled the web site as of 1-1-11 (there it is again!). Looking ahead, there will be much more added in the very near future.

I considered whether this blog should be re-tooled and a new index provided.  Or, was it time to let the blog go dormant? However, the posts prior to today are still relevant, and there has been too much traffic here to just pull the plug.

My card has two simple graphics. First, a pyramid with an arrow from the base to the top of the pyramid. The bottom-up direction of the arrow indicates involvement and engagement, at the first level and all levels. It’s a simple theory: involvement builds commitment. Engage people by seeking their input as early in the planning phase as possible, and as much as possible. Absolutely critical in the cascading of strategy process: involve people in establishing the HOW that will drive the WHAT.

While alignment involves cascading strategy from the top down, bottom-up engagement drives buy-in, ownership and accountability. These are critical to making the mission, vision, values come alive, and to achieving the strategy.

The second graphic is a field archery target with one arrow in the dead-center bulls-eye. Flawless execution means all hands on deck, pulling in the right direction. Flawless execution leads to results. Not just results, but the right results….IF engagement and alignment are established up-front. Flawless execution and engagement are outcomes of alignment, involvement, communication and systems. Tough enough to accomplish with these inputs, impossible without them.

This is one of the basics behind Flawless Execution and High Engagement: in the spirit of quality assurance, effective control of process inputs ensures quality of outputs.
